The Navigation Toolbar

This refers to the seven buttons found at the borders of the text window.

Drag Button

This is the square icon found on the top left. If you click on this and hold the mouse button down, you can drag and drop the text window anywhere you please.

Window Hide Button

This is the x icon found on the top right. If you click on this, you will hide the text window. Left-clicking anywhere after that will show the text window again.

Skip Button

Of the three icons on the bottom right, this is the fast-forward double-right-arrow icon. Unlike the Skip Mode triggered by holding down Ctrl -- which skips past all text regardless of whether it was already read or not -- this mode only skips past text that you have already read at some point.

Back Button

Of the three icons on the bottom right, this is the left arrow icon. This will bring you back one page every time you click on it.

Forward Button

Of the three icons on the bottom right, this is the right arrow icon. This will bring you forward one page every time you click on it. This is equivalent to left-clicking anywhere on the screen, or pressing the Enter key.

Quicksave

Of the two icons on the bottom left, this is the S icon. This will automatically save your progress to save slot 00.

Quickload

Of the two icons on the bottom left, this is the L icon. This will automatically load the savegame in save slot 00.

Other Options

Set mouse cursor to monochrome
Makes the mouse cursor monochrome, and hypothetically speeds up operations. For most people this will have no effect at all.

No scene transition animations
If you simply wish for the story to proceed without fade/venetian blind/other transition effects, check this option.
※ We recommend that you leave this option unchecked on your first playthrough to add to the atmosphere.

Lower program priority in order to allow other programs to run smoothly
Gives priority to other programs that are running at the same time.
※ It is usually a good idea to leave this option unchecked, as otherwise irregularity in runtime may develop.

Display confirmation messages on save/load
If this option is checked, then you will get confirmation messages every time you save or load a game. This option is enabled by default.

Check this when there is noise on sound playback
If there happens to be noise or other irregularity on sound playback during the game, try checking this option.
※ For most people this will have no effect at all.

≪Sound Playback Bitrate≫
Sets a specific frequency and bitrate for sounds to be played at. For most people, the default value [marked (def.)] should be fine.
